Bulk Gas Safety

A pound of prevention is worth an ounce of cure!

You may have heard this statement before but the other way around. Middlesex Gases & Technology is committed to all aspects of safety to persons and property. Applying the above statement when dealing with high pressures and caustic materials safety must be employed at all times. Even a static bottle or cylinder needs to be respected.

During a typical "no-obligation audit" a MG&T staff member will do a "walk thru" with you and make an on-site assessment.

Items under consideration, but not limited to are:

  • Storage - Multiple storage areas? Are they protected from accidental "run-ins" with fork lifts? Fire, electrical or other heat sources nearby? Types of containers, single bottles, Perma-Cyl, bulk gas containers?
  • Connections - Delivery methods efficient? Hoses, couplers, gages and piping? Protected, distance to source and use?
  • System of delivery - By existing company, how are materials delivered? How are gases handled once in-house?
  • Training - Are key involved personal trained in handling, safety, swap out (if applicable) for each type of gas used?
  • Grades of Gas - Are you using Research Grades when only High Purity is required? Unleaded vs. Premium costs may be costing more than required.
  • Emergency Preparedness - Based on your gas requirements is an emergency plan in place? i.e.: If using Arsine/Hydrogen Mix and experience a leak, are employees prepared?

Safety in handling and storage coupled with use, pattern of use, delivery and costs are all taken into account when doing an on-site audit. Even if you decide Middlesex Gases isn't to become your supplier of choice, you at a minimum owe it to yourself and to your staff to have Middlesex gases & Technology perform our no-obligation audit.
